Semester Classes
Privacy policy
Semester Classes helps you manage classes, coursework, deadlines, and grade estimates in Google Sheets. Contact the developer at tlamovsky@student.ysu.edu with questions about this policy.
Information the tracker accesses
When you use the Coursework tools, Google Apps Script reads and updates the open template spreadsheet. This includes worksheet values, formulas, formatting, table structure, and registration records used by the tracker.
Information may include class names, course codes, credits, optional professor names and email addresses, assignment names and types, modules, deadlines, statuses, points, recorded scores, grading weights and cutoffs, submission dates, and notes you enter.
How that information is used
The tracker uses this information to register classes, add assignments, update selected coursework, show deadlines, calculate grade estimates, and keep the Overview and Log worksheets up to date. Optional professor email addresses are stored as class information; the tracker does not send email to professors.
The current tools request Google Sheets access for their table and worksheet updates, permission to display forms inside Sheets, and permission to run automatic cleanup after changes. The Sheets permission can allow access to other spreadsheets, but the current implementation targets your open template copy.
When you first use Add class or Add assignment, the script creates an automatic spreadsheet-change trigger under your Google account. It repairs derived references and class lists after native assignment-row or class-tab deletion. The trigger can run when a dialog is closed and runs with the permissions of the account that created it. You can remove it from your Apps Script trigger settings or revoke the script’s access.
Where information is stored
Your coursework is stored in your Google spreadsheet. The file also contains hidden registration and request records, called developer metadata, which help register classes and prevent duplicate submissions. These records can include class details and optional professor contact information.
Google Apps Script separately saves your assignment-form preferences, including the class name, assignment type, and preferred due time, in per-user properties associated with the script. Clearing visible cells does not necessarily remove these stored preferences or hidden records.
Sharing and developer access
The tracker processes coursework through Google Sheets and Apps Script. The current script does not automatically send your coursework to the developer or an outside service. Using a personal copy does not itself give the developer access to that file. People you choose to share the spreadsheet with may have access according to its sharing settings.
The tracker does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. Semester Classes uses information from Google Workspace APIs in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Support messages and website visits
If you email support, the developer receives your email address and the information you include. Messages are used to answer your request and retained while needed to resolve it. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing the support address above. Avoid sending coursework or identifying student information unless it is necessary for your request.
These pages contain no advertising or analytics scripts added by the developer. The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites. The hosting service may process technical information, such as IP addresses and requested URLs, to deliver and protect the site. See OpenAI’s privacy policy for information about its handling of personal data.
Retention, deletion, and control
The tracker does not set an automatic expiration for coursework, hidden registration records, or saved form preferences. You control your spreadsheet’s contents and sharing. Google’s services and retention rules apply to information stored in Google Sheets and Apps Script.
You can stop using the tools and revoke their Google-account access. Revoking access stops authorized operations; it does not delete spreadsheet contents, metadata, or saved preferences. Deleting the whole workbook and its bound script removes your copy from active use, subject to Google’s trash and retention rules. Contact support for help identifying saved information that you want removed.
Protection and changes
The tracker uses Google’s authenticated services. It does not change your file’s sharing permissions or include a separate developer database. Protect your Google account and review who can access your spreadsheet. Google may maintain service and execution logs under its own policies.
This policy will be updated before the tracker’s data practices change. Any future shared add-on or hosting arrangement must be reviewed separately before release.
